The final product of scene investigation, evidence analysis, and case review is a comprehensive report which fully explains the significance and limitations of the physical evidence in the case, and, when appropriate, presents a reconstruction of the incident based on information gained from the scene, the evidence examination, and the review of relevant additional information. |

Diagram of Event Reconstruction. The use of computer aided drafting and modeling programs allows an accurate, three-dimensional diagram of the event to be constructed. The three dimensional drawing shown can be viewed from any angle. Diagrams such as this allows conclusions from examination of the physical evidence, evidence from the crime scene, and even statements of witnesses, to be synthesized into a single image that vividly illustrates one moment in time. A combination of such images can be used to create an animated reenactment of the event. |
Diagrammatic Representation of a Blood Spatter Pattern on a Wall. A single diagram can effectively summarize evidence that might be present in many crime scene photographs. The overall pattern of blood spatter in this case established that the victim was lying on her bed when she was struck several times in the head with a hammer. This is not consistent with the defendant's statement that the victim was kneeling on the bed when the attack occurred. Click here or on the image to view an enlarged version of the figure. |

Reports are Comprehensive. In compliance with ASTM E620 "Standard Practice for Reporting Opinions of Technical Experts" and Federal Rule 16, reports are comprehensive and designed to clearly state the conclusions reached and to provide the technical basis for such conclusions. Not only are the conclusions stated clearly, but the data which support those conclusions are included in the report, and the background material relied upon is stated. Thus reports are both useful to clients and amenable to technical review by other experts.
